Who We Are

Comic Strip Canvas is a UK-based wall art brand. Our website address is https://comicstripcanvas.co.uk. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly.

What Data We Collect

When you place an order or contact us, we may collect the following information:

Your name, email address, shipping address, phone number (if provided), payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card details), photographs you upload for personalised orders, and any messages or instructions you provide. If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect information about how you use our site (see Cookies below).

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to process and fulfil your orders, send order confirmations and dispatch notifications, create personalised artwork based on photos you provide, respond to your enquiries, improve our website and services, and send marketing emails (if you've signed up to our newsletter, or, once you've ordered from us, offers and referral emails about our products). We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

If you'd rather not hear from us, tick "Don't send me offers or referral emails" in your basket before checkout and we won't send you marketing or referral emails about that order — we'll still send the emails needed to fulfil it (order confirmation, proofs and dispatch updates), and every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full card details. Stripe's privacy policy can be found at stripe.com/privacy.

Delivery & Returns

To get your order to you, we share your name and delivery address with Sendcloud, the shipping platform we use to create postage labels, and with the carrier that delivers your parcel (such as Royal Mail, Evri, InPost or UPS). We do this because it's necessary to fulfil your order.

Sendcloud processes these details on our behalf and only on our instructions. Carriers use them to deliver and track your parcel, and handle them under their own privacy policies.

If you return an item, we share your name, address, email address and, if you've given us one, your phone number with Sendcloud and with the carrier that collects or handles your return, so they can arrange a collection or send you drop-off details and keep you updated. We buy the return label for you and never share your payment details.

Sendcloud is based in the Netherlands and processes data within the European Economic Area. You can read its privacy policy on sendcloud.com, and each carrier's privacy policy is on its own website.

Photos & Personalised Orders

When you upload photos for personalised orders, these are stored securely and used solely for the purpose of creating your artwork. We will never use your photos for marketing without your explicit consent.

We keep your photos and the finished artwork for 90 days after dispatch in case a reprint is needed, then delete them. If you start a personalised build but do not order, the photos you uploaded are deleted 30 days after you started it.

To apply the comic style, your photo is sent to Google's Gemini API, acting as our data processor. We send the photo you uploaded together with three reference images of our own artwork, which is how the style is matched. We use Google's paid API tier, under which Google does not use the data you send to train its models.

For the comic book cover, background removal runs on our own service hosted on Fly.io in London; the image is not retained by that service.

The styled image comes back to us and is stored in our own Netlify Blobs store alongside your original photo, under the same retention rules: 90 days after dispatch, or 30 days if you start a build and do not order.

Before your first upload you are asked to confirm that you own the rights to the photos, or have permission to use them, and that you are happy for us to use them to make your artwork.

Cookies

Essential storage (always on). Some storage is needed for the site to work, so it does not need your consent: your basket (kept in your browser's local storage), your cookie choice itself (a cookie called csc_consent, kept for 6 months), and the security cookies set by Stripe on its secure checkout page and by Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects our contact and returns forms from spam.

Analytics (only with your consent). We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-LH10709LC0), loaded directly from Google, to measure visits to the site and the steps of shopping: viewing a product, adding to your bag, starting checkout and completing a purchase. Google Analytics only runs after you click "Accept all" on our cookie banner, and only for analytics: advertising storage and ad personalisation stay switched off. If you click "Reject all", or make no choice, it does not load and no analytics cookies are set. When they do run, Google Analytics sets cookies called _ga and _ga_<ID>, and Google receives information such as the pages you visit, your device and browser, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Purchases. If you accepted analytics, your browser passes your Google Analytics IDs (the random identifiers Google Analytics gives your browser and your visit, from the _ga cookies) to our checkout. When you pay, our server sends Google those IDs with your order number, the order value, postage and the items bought, so the purchase appears in our analytics. Nothing that identifies you personally, such as your name, email or address, is sent. If you did not accept, nothing is sent.

Changing your choice. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies set on our domain and the tags stop loading from your next page view. We ask again after 6 months.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion of your data, object to processing of your data, and request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our contact page.
